

LTC Ryan Horton

LTC Ryan Horton hails from the small town of Peru, Indiana. He commissioned in the United States Army Corps of Engineers on 26 May 2007 from the United States Military at West Point.
After completing the Engineer Officer Basic Course, LTC Horton’s initial assignment was to Fort Leonard Wood, MO in February 2008 where he served as the Executive Officer for B Co, 35th Engineer Battalion. In April 2009, LTC Horton was assigned to the 94th Engineer Battalion, serving as a Vertical Company Executive Officer and an Assistant Battalion S3. He would then deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom working as a Facility Engineer Advisor as part of the Infrastructure Training and Advisory Group in Kabul, Afghanistan from March 2011 through February 2012. From November 2012 through March 2014, LTC Horton served as the Battalion S4 for the 52D Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado. LTC Horton took command of 615th Engineer Company (Horizontal), 52D Engineer Battalion in March 2014 and would deploy the company in support of Operation United Assistance in Liberia from November 2014 to January 2015. He would then serve as an Observer Coach/Trainer Team Chief with the 157th Infantry Brigade at Camp Atterbury, Indiana from July 2015 through August 2017. From March 2018 to July 2020, LTC Horton was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, serving as the Deputy Inspector General. From August 2020 to June 2023, LTC Horton was assigned to the 177th Armored Brigade serving as the Current Operations Chief, 3-315th Brigade Engineer Battalion Executive Officer, and later as the Brigade S3. He would then deploy in support of Operation Spartan Shield where he served as the Director for the Department of Public Works for Area Support Group – Jordan.
LTC Horton holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Military Art and Science from West Point as well as a Master’s of Science Degree in Army Operations and National Security from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
LTC Horton is married to Jewel Horton; they have two children Anna (8) and Jackson (4).
